EUPHORBIAS - (common name: Spurge) Great Companions to Succulents and other Low-Water Plants. Also featured in the Houzz.com Ideabook! The Euphorbiafamily is quite diverse, and available in an endless variety of sizes and shapes. Their dramatic and stunning flowers (bracts) range in shades from chartreuse to deep reds and other color combos. They really brighten up the garden when in bloom - late Winter/early Spring in the Bay Area. (Be careful when cutting them back, the white sap can cause skin irritations). I've selected a few different Euphorbias I like to design with along with some companions:
