I've just begun to develop this section of "Plants In Focus". I'll be including other favorite plants of mine on a regular basis, so please check back soon.

I love incorporating succulents in the drought-tolerant gardens I design. There are endless colors, shapes and sizes and they mingel well with so many other low-water plants. They're good-looking throughout the seasons, and stand up to light frost. Some can even withstand freezing temperatures. They do need fast-draining soil as they are susceptible to rotting if kept too wet.
Since by childhood it has always tickled me that one could cut off a portion of the succulent plant, let it dry a day or so, and then pop it into soil and voila! A new plant is born! Here are just a few of my favorites and some companion plants.
