SHADY GARDEN UNDER THE REDWOODS:

To offer easy access and maneuverability through this steep site, Eileen designed a curvaceous stairway along with terraced retaining walls, and used Sonoma Fieldstone to compliment this natural setting. The site was further transformed with a beautiful plant palette that includes several California Native ferns and groundcovers, along with other shade-loving plants. They include Western Five Finger Ferns, Giant Chain Ferns, Asarum (Wild Ginger) and Oxalis oregana. Fragrant Daphne and spikey Dianella Tasmanica 'Variegata' provide contrast and brightness. And Heuchera, Helleborus and Carex 'Evergold'  further compliment the mix.

This new landscape provides the homeowners with a lovely garden setting that offers year-round appeal with a plant array of lovely, soft colors, textures and contrasts.
