LAWN REPLACED WITH CA NATIVES AND OTHER LOW-WATER PLANTS - SAN ANSELMO, CA
Project Overview:
This landscape has been dramatically transformed into a backyard pollinator plant haven by replacing the water-thirsty lawn with a meandering natural blue stone pathway that circles around a mounded planting bed, filled with a variety of colorful plants. Several California native plants and a variety of vibrant bee and hummingbird-loving pollinator plants, feathery grasses and easy-care, water-wise plants from other Mediterranean regions, co-mingle throughout the landscape. Low-growing succulents and ground covers soften the pathway edge and the water-wise Dymondia margaretae - Silver Carpet ground cover was planted in between the stones. On-site boulders were repositioned in the planting beds to provide natural focal elements, contrast and interest. The resident kitties are also enjoy the new garden! |
