Lawn Replaced with Dymondia Ground Cover and other Water-Wise Plants - Mill Valley, CA
Project Overview:
We replaced the water-thirsty lawn with Dymondia margaretae - Silver Carpet, a tough, low-growing, drought tolerant lawn replacement alternative that even takes foot traffic. It has gray/green foliage and small yellow flowers. Photos show the Dymondia 1 month after planting, and then a year later. It fills in densely and no maintenance required. If you want to replace your lawn, this is one of the best alternatives. The Dymondia was also planted between the flagstone pavers. The planting beds include a variety of Mediterranean, colorful drought tolerant plants that provide year-round color and texture. These plants are also deer resistant (no such think as deer proof plants, but have had good success with these plants). The plant palette also beautifully compliments the tones of Three Rivers flagstone in the pathways that lead to the home's front entrance and along the front and side beds. |
