Project Overview:
An extensive landscape remodel for this mid-century modern home features a dramatic living wall/vertical garden, designed to provide a welcoming focal point at the home's entrance. I carefully chose plants for the Living Wall that provide year-round appeal and designed to achieve long cascading "waves" with a variety of textures and leaf colors. From pale greens to blue greens, to burgundies and rust tones, some plants with white and yellow flowers were added to the mix. A couple of the plants were replaced in the Spring of 2021, two years after installation. The tired lawn was replaced, the garden extended and filled with colorful and textural water-wise grasses, succulents, flowering plants and shrubs that echo the theme in the living wall. All of the dated concrete was removed and replaced. The walkway was designed with large geometric concrete pavers, complimented by polished black Mexican pebbles in between. The design carries through the new concrete driveway. The modern, black low-voltage lighting fixtures and updated front doorway and garage door complete this APLD International Award-winning front landscape transformation. |
