DRAMATIC MODERN TRANSFORMATION WITH LOW-WATER PLANTS - SAN RAFAEL, CA
Project Overview:
This San Rafael front landscape has been dramatically updated with a welcoming entrance of large dark grey rectangular concrete pavers accented by Mexican pebbles and a raised corten steel planter with high-impact succulent plants and white pebbles. In the largest garden area a majestic fruitless olive tree along with a variety of grasses, hardy succulents, and flowering plants were chosen for their textural and architectural appeal. The plants are surrounded by a beige gravel that provides a clean modern look and serves as a fire-safe mulch. This garden area is further enhanced by two horizontal ipe wood structures that provide contrast and added interest. The planting beds and pathways are edged with black steel to separate the pebbles and the soil. Raised board-formed concrete planters run alongside the new concrete driveway defining the property line showcasing more colorful, architectural succulents with another corten steel planter. A beautiful gray house color with ipe wood accents and gates complete the remodel. |
