NARROW SAUSALITO  LANDSCAPE  UPDATED FOR OUTDOOR LIVING

Picture

Project Overview:
To gain more usable space in this narrow landscape and update the hardscaping and overgrown garden, my design approach was to reconfigure the pathway and arranged rectangular poured-in-place concrete pavers, in a staggered pattern accented with Mexican pebbles in between.  A stunning variety of succulents and other site-appropriate plantings that thrive in shade and part sun were installed. A failing tree was removed to create a patio area large enough to fit a table and chairs for a small group. Non-invasive/clumping Bamboo was added to help screen the patio and provide privacy. Other shade to part-shade plants were included that provide a variety of textures and colors throughout the seasons. Low-voltage lighting was installed for safety and ambiance
Design Details:
  • Low-voltage lighting fixtures along the pathway, on  patio and in the planting beds to offer ambiance and safety.
  • Mexican pebbles surround the concrete stepping stones.
  • A variety of low-water but high-impact plants include Aeonium canariensis, Aeonium sunburst, clumbing, non-invasive bamboo, Daphne odora 'marginata' for late winter frangrance, and other site appropriate plantings.
